SRO 1429 – Government Notification

Government of Pakistan – Ministry of Energy (Power Division) issued SRO 1429(I)/2021 in pursuance of section 31 of the Regulation of Generation, Transmission and Distribution of Electric Power Act, 1997 (XL of 1997).

In exercise of the powers conferred under the Act, the Federal Government notified that the following amendments shall be made in SRO No. 575(I)/2019 dated May 22, 2019, read with corrigendum dated September 23, 2019 and January 22, 2020, as amended and modified through SRO No. 1037(I)/2020 dated October 12, 2020 and SRO 192(I)/2021 dated February 12, 2021.


Tariff Schedule Revision

The Schedule of electricity tariff in the aforesaid notification dated October 12, 2020 along with tariff rationalization by way of further adjustment notified by notification No. 192(I)/2021 dated February 12, 2021 shall be substituted and superseded with the Schedule of Electricity Tariffs as included in Schedule-I attached with the Regulatory Authority determination dated November 05, 2021.

Any difference between the rate recommended by NEPRA and the applicable consumer tariff notified in this notification on account of tariff adjustments shall be made available by way of subsidy.


Amendment to Annex

Annex-VI of SRO No. 576(I)/2019 dated May 22, 2019 shall be substituted and superseded with Annex-VI as given in NEPRA determination dated September 23, 2021.


Applicability of Previous Provisions

Subject to the amendments made through this notification, all other provisions, terms and conditions contained in SRO No. 575(I)/2019 dated May 22, 2019, read with corrigendum dated September 23, 2019 and January 22, 2020, as amended and modified through SRO No. 1037(I)/2020 dated October 12, 2020 and SRO 192(I)/2021 dated February 12, 2021 and SRO No. 576(I)/2019 dated May 22, 2019 will continue to remain in full force and effect.


Schedule of Electricity Tariffs

The attached Schedule of Electricity Tariffs specifies tariff categories and applicable rates for consumers including residential, commercial, industrial, agricultural and other supply categories.

The schedule provides detailed tariff structures including variable charges, fixed charges and conditions for application of tariffs under each category of electricity supply.


Terms and Conditions of Tariff

The terms and conditions governing supply of power specify definitions relating to billing demand, variable charge, maximum demand, sanctioned load, and power factor.

These conditions also define peak and off-peak timings, billing procedures, payment terms and adjustments applicable to consumers receiving electricity supply under different tariff categories.


Consumer Categories Covered

Each category includes specific definitions, applicable tariff rates and special conditions of supply.


Implementation

The revised tariff schedule and terms shall apply to consumers receiving electricity supply under the jurisdiction of power distribution companies in accordance with the determination issued by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority.

This notification shall take effect from the date of its issuance.
